Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth were the first European settlers to cross the Blue Mountains in NSW in the search for farming land and more space for the New South Wales Colony to expand. While on their journey they travelled to Katoomba and may have seen the spectacular Three Sisters.
After reading the story “Crossing The Blue Mountains” students will gain a better understanding of how difficult their journey was and their significant contribution to Australia’s development. This resource contains three activities which include:
