Charles Sturt is a major figure in Australia’s exploration. He was the first European person to navigate and explore the Murray River and also lead a number of expeditions into the interior of Australia in search of an inland sea. He also had a significant impact on the development and politics of South Australia.
This cloze activity features the Sturt Desert Pea. An iconic Australian plant, it is linked to explorer Charles Sturt and his sightings of it on one of his expeditions. This activity could be used in class, as an activity for early finishers or as part of a homework package. Answers have been included to make marking a breeze!
