Description

Australian Curriculum Content Descriptor:
★ ACHASSK110 – The role that a significant individual or group played in shaping a colony

Edward Eyre is one of Australia’s great explorers. He explored a large portion of Australia while overlanding cattle to Melbourne and Australia, and found Lake Eyre in northern South Australia. His most notable, and dangerous expedition was across the Nullarbor from Streaky Bay to Albany.

This activity is great fun! The first part allows students to conduct their own research to create a profile of Edward John Eyre and his life. The second part asks students to define what facts and opinions are and then sort examples of each.

This is an ideal task to do in pairs or could be enlarged on to A3 paper to create a project or display item for your classroom. Everything you need is in this file. Answers are included, where appropriate, to make marking easy.
