The story of Ludwig Leichhardt is surrounded by mystery and intrigue. As one of the most interesting figures in Australia’s exploration, students love to learn about his expedition and disappearance.
This activity is great fun, allowing students to track Leichhardt’s two expeditions across Australia by combining mathematics and history.
There are two parts to this activity.
First, students connect the dots to track Leichhardt’s expeditions. And second, they use the grid coordinates provided to mark symbols on the map of important locations named by Leichhardt or visited by him on his expeditions. Everything you need is in this file.
