Introduce your students to Australia’s first Prime Minister.
Are you looking for hands-on and engaging activities to help your students get to know the key figures of Australia’s Federation? We’ve got you covered!
Your HASS Australian History lessons will be fun and engaging with our Edmund Barton Puzzle Activity. This age-appropriate and curriculum aligned activity allows your students to refine their research skills and explore the life and experiences of Australia’s first Prime Minister. Once students have completed the questions they will use their answers to put together the jumbled image of Edmund Barton. Additionally, students will need to record their sources of information and identify reliable sources and explain their reason for considering them valid and reliable compared to other sites/sources.
This activity is the perfect complement to your HASS Australian Federation unit and links to the Australian Curriculum descriptors for Year 6:
- Students will be able to identify the key figures, events and ideas that led to Australia’s Federation and constitution (ACHASSK134).
- Students use the internet or texts to research and locate reliable information about Australia’s first Prime Minister Edmund Barton. (ACHASSI123)
