He showed amazing courage, strength and compassion in extremely difficult circumstances, as a prisoner of war working on the Thai-Burma Railway. Faced with horrific conditions, Weary worked tirelessly to provide medical treatment to the men he was imprisoned with, often at great risk to his own safety.
