Keeping track of your assessment and marking is essential. However, setting up a system that works, is curriculum aligned and easy to access can be time-consuming but not any more! We’ve created a digital grade book and reporting system that will save you time and give you peace of mind that your record-keeping is up to date, readily accessible and linked to the Australian Curriculum. How does it work?
This assessment tracker has been created in Google Sheets. Using an online version means you can access your assessment and reporting records from anywhere that has an internet connection. There’s no need to cart it around on a USB that could be damaged or lost. You can also update your records on the go! Alternatively, if you prefer to work in Excel you can download it and save it to your computer. You will need a Google account to use this resource. If you haven’t got one already don’t worry it free and super easy to sign up!
Page 1 will serve as your digital grade book providing space to record marks for each assessment task for each student. Simply type your student list into the first column to get started. You can then type in the name and description of the assessment task, the content descriptors it is assessing and the total possible marks.
Pages 2 and 3 are dedicated to tracking each student’s achievement for every Australian Curriculum Content Descriptor for Year 6 English. It’s so easy to use. Firstly, copy the student name list from the first sheet to get ready. Next, click the arrow in each cell to find a drop-down list of A-E grades with suggested report comments and choose the one for that student. There are over 100 comments!
Page 4 is where the magic comes from. It lists all the comments that appear in the drop-down lists. Each drop-down list is linked to these comments so you can edit the comments to suit you by clicking on them and typing your changes. These changes will be automatically reflected in the linked drop-down box.
